So what is it Its original black-finished spruce top is simply ladder-braced from within, but its back and sides feature Brazilian rosewood with dramatic bookmatched figure. The three strings that were on it gave a nice ringing tone. " (I wasn't even looking for a fiddle, but somehow instruments seem to find us, don't they?) I ended up buying it and then handed it over to the luthier for some needed work, so no pictures to post yet.Īnyway, it's got a nicely flamed back and ribs, and the varnish is an attractive golden color. ![]() While in an antique shop today, I happened to find a fiddle labeled "Lyon & Healy Maestro Violin, AD 1926, Style 9184, Made in France.
